Cassandra Monique Batie known professionally as Andra Day is an American R&B and soul singer actor and songwriter. Her awards include the Grammy Award, Children's and Family Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award are among the many honors she's received. The singer was also selected for the Academy Award. She grew in San Diego and the metropolitan zone. There she sang in church and attended the School of Creative and Performing Arts. She first appeared in television shows such as 666 Park Avenue, Orange Is the New Black and Blue Bloods before launching her film debut as Allyson Nelson in the slasher film series Halloween as well as the sequels.
